Cardi B is slowly realizing that when you become a global superstar almost overnight like she is, the lawsuits fly at you at an incredible rate.

For example, yesterday Cardi B got hit with a $10 million lawsuit her former manager, Klenord “Shaft” Raphael, who has accused her of breach of contract and defamation.

The claim dispute targets Cardi’s bailing out on Raphael’s company, World Star Marketing Group, and her recent deal with Solid Foundation. You’ve never heard of Solid Foundation, but they’re management department of Quality Control. Now here’s where it gets tricky…

Solid Foundation is the label that signed Migos. Offset is in Migos. Offset is Cardi’s fiance. Do you see where this might be going? Raphael did. He thinks Offset talked Cardi out of her deal with World Star Marketing Group, and got her to sign with the label he’s on.

A rep for Raphael says this about the case: “Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image … Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint.”
Raphael claims Offset “is responsible for steering Cardi B to Quality Control,” and that Offset sent him a bunch of threatening texts.
Shaft says last December, Offset texted him and said, “[U] better stop play acting like u don’t know u taking her sh** from her u a snake. U can’t hide from me N**** and u not bout to play my WIFE.”

Raphael also blames Cardi’s makeup artist/publicist for poisoning her against him.

e also accuses Cardi of defamation of character after she allegedly told Offset and others that “Shaft is robbing me.” She’s really moaning about some guy named Shaft who might have robber her?

While Raphael is proud his successful collaborations with Cardi as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, he’s disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career..

Raphael is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims.” Raphael began working with Cardi in 2015, introducing her to VH1 where her spot on Love & Hip Hop garnered breakout success.
Raphael claims before he spotted Cardi B’s raw talent, she was not even a rapper and he credits himself with taking her “from the strip club to the recording studio,” thus “her rapid rise as a recording artist and performer is attributable to” him. And h’s not wrong.
All this literally a day after Cardi announced that she’s calling it quits for a while after this weekend’s Broccoli Music Festival this weekend in DC. One can assume that you’re not a superstar until you’ve been sued for millions. If that’s the case, Cardi has arrived.

So what do you think. Raphael ain’t all that wrong. A contract is a contract, and he did play a big part in taking Cardi from flashing her beaver for dollar bills to releasing one of the biggest albums of the year, singing on SNL, and crushing it at Coachella.
